A startling revelation about the tikanga of the kupu Whaikōrero. This is an in depth kōrerorero about kupu etymology focussing on the word "whaikōrero", what people think it means, what it actually means, and how these meanings come to be.

The hosts dive into a fresh batch of listener pātai — from how to appropriately koha kai to a nearby marae, to the lingering mystery in the story of Reitū and Reipae, and finally a whakaaro about the kupu waka when used as a metaphor and how that affects its place within the ā/ō categories. Ringa Hora Services (workforce development council) held their annual Tuia conference in Hamilton - two days of vocational insights, whanaungatanga, and inspiration, with learnings that will contribute to the successful and sustainable future for our mokopuna. Taringa were privileged to have been invited to kōrerorero on stage at Tuia 2024, where this episode was recorded live, as the hosts discuss what it means to be truely Māori and offering thoughts on how to strive for a collective approach to Māori business and iwi development.
